The United States Green Building Council (USGBC) has created Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). This is an international system for evaluating buildings and builder performance. USGBC also offers a multi level, rigorous certification process for industry professionals. The most coveted certification is known as LEED AP or LEED Accredited Professional. The National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) as developed a parallel system that is focused primarily on new home construction. The program is known as the NAHB National Green Building Program. They also offer in depth training and certification for professionals. Successful candidates receive the Certified Green Professional (CGP) designation. Again SureGreen has a CGP on staff and available to consult you on every aspect of green building applicable to new home construction from the basics through homes that are candidates for NAHB National Green Building Program certification.
These programs offer systems that address all project aspects including planning, site selection and development through construction, occupancy and conformation of completed building performance. Projects that adhere to either of these tracks and achieve certification represent the state of the art in green, sustainable construction and performance.
